This sauteed Garlic shrimp recipe or Garlic butter prawns recipe where combine the butter with garlic is a combination which is made in heaven. Though garlic Butter combination itself the best combination. But I made this combination more interesting with adding some Lemon juice. This recipe is less spicy so kids can easily eat this.
Is this Sauteed Garlic shrimp Recipe is Similar to Shrimp Scampi?
This recipe is similar to shrimp scampi. The word Scampi is invented in Italy. It’s a Nephrops norvegicus which is kind of Lobster. The actual words of the scampi are Italian word scampo. Actually its a plural form of the word Scampi. But some believe This Scampi word comes from the Greek word “kampē“.Nowadays Italy, Greece, the United Kingdom and Spain are adding the words with simple ingredients and making different scampi Variant dishes. Shimp Scampi is one of them and it’s very popular throughout the world.
The Nephrops norvegicus or the lobsters are very bigger than regular shrimp in size and it tastes quite different from normal shrimps/prawns. This Nephrops norvegicus is found only in Atlantic ocean a part of the Meditorian sea. This kind of lobsters is rare to find. And because of this, it’s bit expensive. So I decided to make the dish with Local shrimps rather than with Big Lobster Tails. The other kind of lobster is used in Scampi which is Norway Lobster. These lobsters are known towards the world as Dublin Bay prawns. Though The tastes and textures of lobster meat are similar to prawns and shrimp meats. But as per the biological classifications, Scampi lobsters and freshwater shrimps/prawns are different from each other.
Different Countries and there Scampi Recipes…
Cooking process of the Scampi is different in different countries. In most of the restaurants in England, they cook the whole tail of scampi’s means fried in batter with breadcrumbs. usually, They serve the dish with potato chips and tartare sauce. And In Italian cooking, they cook these scampi in a broth. They just boil the scampi’s with little seasonings and eat.
But the Amerian shrimp scampi is simply delicious and cooked in a different way. Amerian Shrimp scampi made by the influence of Italian-American cuisine. Most of the Resturants in America cook the dish in garlic butter with a dash of lime juice to give a kick of flavours to the dish and serve the dish with Dry white wine. Sometime Ameican restaurants make another scampi versions like Chicken Scampi for there customers. It tastes also good.
Why I make the dish With Sweetwater Shrimps?
My garlic butter with Prawns (shrimp) is very simple and easy to make and also it tastes Delicious. I used Local jumbo Prawns/ Shrimps for this recipes. Because Scampi lobsters are not easily available here. And we already know that the scampi lobsters and Sweetwater Prawns or lobsters just taste same. So I used what I got from the local market. - 4 Big size Tiger Prawns
- 1/2 Cup Salted Butter
- 1 Tbsp Extra lite olive oil
- 8 Cloves Garlic Crushed
- 1/3 Tsp Salt
- 1 Pinch Sugar
- 1 mid-size Fresh Lemon juice
- 1 Tbsp Fresh Lemon Zest
- 1 Tbsp finely chopped parsley
- 1/2 Cup Water
- Before cooking clean and wash all Prawns.
- Now Take a Pan, Wok/ Kadai.
- Turn on gas flame and Heat the Wok/kadai.
- Put oil on it and Make it Hot in High Flame.
- Now fry all prawns until they turn orange in colour.
- And Then very quickly add all The Butter.
- When The butter starts bubbling just at this stage add Freshly crushed garlic.
- And fry for 2 mins then add 2 tbsp water to prevent butter and garlic from burning.
- And now add salt and sugar.
- Then just after 3 mins add fresh lemon juice and lemon zest, chopped parsley and turn off the gas flame quickly and cover with a lid the pan, wok or kadai.
- Then will the flavour or aroma of lemon juice and zest can go into Prawns/shrimp.
- Serve this Dish with Bread, Rice or with mashed potatoes.
